My First Podcast Appearance!
Ok, *technically* my first podcast was the “POPeracast” for Pacific Opera Project back in 2017 for their production of Carmen, but this was my first time as a guest on a podcast since stepping into my life calling as a healer, so that has to count for something!
A few days ago, I joined my client-turned-colleague Chelsea Hastings on her podcast “Chat With Chelsea” for a talk about a concept I lovingly call “The Trajectory of Pain”, or as it’s more commonly referred to by the psychology community, “Post Traumatic Growth”. Chelsea is a brilliant life coach and one of the most light-filled souls I’ve ever had the honor to do healing work with.
At some point in the podcast, she asked me a beautiful question (I’m paraphrasing because I don’t remember her exact wording), “often people have their faith challenged in a time of trauma. What would you say to people who, when they’re in pain, have a hard time believing that God is there for them?”
I told her that in my experience I have found the exact opposite to be the truth: the proof that we are most loved by Go--or the universe, or whatever you wanna call it--is the trauma and pain that we suffer.
Our pain is a gift that helps us grow closer to Divinity.
On the other side of our pain is always a stronger connection to our faith, to the universe, to every living thing...closer relationships, our most authentic self, and so many other riches that life has to give us. But oftentimes the catalyst for the transformation that gives us those beautiful gifts is,--you guessed it--pain.
That is just a short sampling of what was a beautiful conversation about pain, relationships, trauma, vulnerability, religion vs. spirituality, community, and so much more.
